How it started
Butingthings MNL began the way most good things do — with a milk crate too full to close and friends who kept asking, “wait, can I buy that one?” What started as a personal dig turned into a proper shop: a small, independent corner of Manila for people who still believe an album is meant to be held, flipped, and played from beginning to end.
We’re not chasing trends or grading obsessively over every hairline. We’re here for the feeling — the crackle before the first note, the sleeve you can’t stop staring at, the record you didn’t know you needed until it was spinning.
What we curate
We deal in both new and used vinyl — fresh pressings sitting happily next to well-loved second-hand finds. Expect a bit of everything: soul and funk, jazz you can get lost in, OPM classics, indie and alternative, a healthy stack of the strange and the unexpected. Each record is hand-picked and honestly described, so you always know what you’re bringing home.
The used crates are the heart of the shop. They rotate constantly, which is our polite way of saying: if you spot something you love, don’t sleep on it.
Rooted in the community
More than anything, Butingthings MNL is a love letter to the local music community. We’re proud to be part of Manila’s growing crate-digging scene — trading tips with fellow collectors, championing Filipino artists old and new, and keeping OPM spinning for the next generation of listeners.
